To deepen mutual understanding and friendship between the Chinese people and the people of other countries, and to develop exchanges and cooperation between China and the rest of the world in various fields, the Chinese government has set up a series of scholarship programs to sponsor international students, teachers and scholars to study and conduct research in Chinese universities.
Fujian Medical University (hereinafter referred to as “FMU”) is an institution qualified to recruit the Chinese Government Scholarship applicants.
The “High Level Postgraduate program” of Chinese Government Scholarship (here in after referred to as “High Level Program”) aims to select international students with excellent academic background, professional ability and future development potential.

Full scholarship covers tuition, accommodation, comprehensive medical insurance and stipend.
V. Eligibility
To be eligible, an applicant must:
(I) be a non-Chinese citizen and in good health both mentally and physically, and hold a valid ordinary passport.
(II) be a bachelor’s degree holder under the age of 35 when applying for master’s programs.
(III)be a master’s degree holder under the age of 40 when applying
for doctoral programs.
(IV) obtain a minimum score of 210 in HSK (Level 4) when applying for Chinese-taught master’s programs or doctoral programs. Those who have obtained a degree from a Chinese university using Chinese as the language of instruction are exempt from providing HSK score report.
(V) obtain a minimum score of 6.0 in Academic IELTS or 70 in TOEFL iBT (Internet based) when applying for English-taught master’s programs or doctoral programs. Applicants whose first or official language is English or who have taken a degree program taught in English are exempt from providing the above certificate of English proficiency.
VI. Application Documents
(I) Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship (filled in online).
(II) A scanned copy of Passport Information Page. An applicant shall submit a clear scanned copy of the information page of his/her passport that will not expire on or before September 1, 2023. Renew the passport if the requirement is not met.
(III) Notarized degree certificates, in scanned files. Applicants who have not graduated by the time of application are required to provide an official letter from their current university stating the expected graduation date.
(IV) Academic transcripts, in scanned files. Master’s program applicants are required to submit undergraduate transcripts. Doctoral program applicants are required to submit both undergraduate and graduate transcripts. These transcripts shall be issued and sealed by the attending university’s relevant office/department.
(V) Certificate of language proficiency. When applying for a Chinese-taught program, an applicant shall provide a valid HSK (Level 4) score report. When applying for an English-taught program, an applicant shall provide a valid English proficiency certificate (TOEFL 70+ /IELTS 6.0+).
(VI) A Pre-Acceptance Letter from the supervisor of FMU and a Pre-Admission Letter issued by the Overseas Education College of FMU (The applicant must upload them at CSC online application system after obtaining them)
(VII) A study or research plan (no less than 1,000 words /character). The plan for doctoral program shall be signed by the supervisor of FMU.
(VIII) Two recommendation letters from professors or associate professors. These letters shall describe the applicant’s objectives of learning in China, comprehensive abilities, and evaluation of future growth (signature and contact information are necessary).
(IX) Published academic articles or original work(when applying for doctoral programs).
(X) A photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form completed in English (the original copy shall be kept by the applicant). The form is designed by the Chinese quarantine authority. The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. Please select the appropriate time to take a physical examination as the result is valid for only 6 months. (see the attachment)
(XI) Non-criminal record report.The applicant shall submit a valid certificate of Non-Criminal Record issued by the local public security authority, usually issued within 6 months prior to the submission date of the application.
(XII) Other supporting documents (e.g. certificate of work or internship, award, publications, etc.).
Note: If your documents are not in English or Chinese, please have them translated into either English or Chinese by an authorized translation agency. Then upload both the translated and original documents onto the application system. Uploaded supporting documents must be clear, authentic and valid. Applicants are recommended to use a professional device to scan the relevant documents. Applicants shall bear the consequences caused by unclear or unidentifiable uploaded materials.
VII. How to Apply

The “Program Category”is Type B. The “Agency Number” of Fujian Medical Universityis 10392.
VIII.Admissionand Registration
(I) Initial Review. FMU will have an initial review of the applicant's identity, educational background, language ability, health condition and non-criminal record, etc.;
(II) Academic Review. Then the applicants pass the initial review, the relevant teaching school/department of FMU will conduct an academic review for applicants to comprehensively assess their academic background, scientific research ability, potential, attitude towards China and language proficiency.
(III) Pre-admission. A pre-admission letter will be issuedtothequalifiedapplicants and then needs to be uploaded to CSC online application system;
(IV) Final Admission. CSC will review qualifications and application documents of candidates nominated by FMU, and decide the final list of scholarship winners, and FMU will send Admission Letter and Visa Application Form for Study in China(JW201) to scholarship recipients.
(V) Registration. In early September annually(subject to Admission Letter). Upon receiving the admission notice, applicant shall register at FMU within stipulated time with all original application materials. Those who are unable to register punctually and without approval of deferred registration by FMU will be deemed as givingup the admission and the scholarship will not be retained.
Note: If the applicant conceals relevant information or provides false materials, the Chinese government scholarship will be cancelled upon discovery,and all the consequences will be borne by the applicant.
IX. Others
(I) Applicants who immigrate from China to foreign countries, shall hold valid foreign passports or certificate of nationality documents for no less than 4 years, and have a record of actual residence abroad for more than 2 years (9 months actual residence abroad in a year can be calculated as one year, subject to entry and exit date stamps) in the last 4 years (before April 30 of the enrollment year). In case of the above situation,the applicant shall provide relevant documents for verification of citizenship status by FMU and the Exit and Entry Administration Department.
(II) Chinese Government Scholarship students are not allowed to enjoy other scholarships (excluding lump-sum rewards) established by Chinese government and FMU. Once found out, their eligibility of Chinese government scholarship shall be cancelled and the Chinese government scholarship already received shall be refunded. Those who intentionally conceal their financial support shall not be allowed to apply for Chinese government scholarships in three years, in addition to being disqualified.
(III) Scholarship students are not allowed to change their institutions as well as their academic programs or the duration of study specified in the Admission Letter.
(IV) Applicants for the Master’s Professional Degree in Clinical Medicine, Stomatology must be taught in Chinese and have a minimum score of 210 on the HSK Test (Level 4).
(V) Chinese-taught postgraduates must pass HSK (Level 5) before graduation. Those who fail to do so shall not be allowed to graduate. English-taught postgraduates must pass HSK (Level 3) before graduation. Those who fail to do so shall not be allowed to graduate.
